Details on the Features

In the fall of 2000, Boston University opened 10 Buick Street, an air-conditioned, apartment-style residence located on the west end of campus in the Student Village complex. Each unit has four single-occupancy bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small kitchen and a living area. Bedrooms are furnished with a twin bed, desk and chair, dresser, and include a closet. Kitchens are equipped with a refrigerator, sink, stove, and microwave oven, but kitchen supplies or utensils are not provided. Living areas are set comfortably with a sofa and chairs along with a dinette set.

Please refer to the floor plan below for a typical apartment at 10 Buick Street. Beds are made prior to arrival. Guests are supplied with bath linens and basic amenities including soap, shampoo, bathmat, bottled water, and a Campus Directory of Services. Daily maid service is not provided. For long-term programs, linens will be changed and a light apartment cleaning will be done once a week. Instructions will be provided for guests who wish to obtain additional amenities or exchange bath linens. For guest convenience, there is an alarm clock in each bedroom. Televisions and telephones are not provided as standard equipment; however, arrangements can be made in advance with Events & Conferences to provide these items in guest suites for additional fees.

The Buick Street Market & Café, located on the ground floor, stocks convenience food items including whole meal solutions, organic and natural options, and a grab ‘n’ go section, and features a Dunkin’ Donuts, Charles River Bread Company for gourmet sandwiches, and Loose Leafs for tossed-to-order salads. This residence also has several common areas that can be reserved by guests staying in the building, including a rooftop lounge and several small meeting rooms on the lower level. Laundry facilities and vending machines are available in the building.

Located just steps outside the front door of 10 Buick Street is Boston University’s Fitness and Recreation Center. This 270,000 square foot facility features cardiovascular and weight equipment, two pools, a 35-foot high climbing wall, indoor elevated jogging track, dance theater, seven multi-sport gyms, and courts for racquetball and squash. The facility also includes male and female locker rooms, a juice bar, and amenities such as towel service and equipment check-out. Memberships are available at special rates for conference guests. The Events & Conferences Front Desk Staff is available to assist guests with checking in to the residence on their designated arrival date beginning at 3:00pm. Guests must check out prior to 11:00am on their designated departure date. The Front Desk Staff is also available on a daily basis to assist guests with both campus and general information.

Residence Hall Regulations and Policies

  1. CHECK-IN TIME begins at 3:00 PM and CHECK-OUT TIME is by 11:00 AM on the scheduled arrival and departure dates as stipulated in the contract. Requests for early check-in or late check-out must be made in advance and confirmed in writing.
  2. A room key will be provided to each member of the Licensee group at check-in. The Licensee is liable for a one hundred ($100) dollar charge* for each key lost during the course of residency and/or not returned and signed in at the front desk upon check-out.
  3. An I.D. card will be provided to each member of the Licensee group at check-in. All guests of the Licensee must present an I.D. card to enter a residence hall or at any time during residency if requested by University personnel. The Licensee is liable for a twenty-five ($25) dollar charge* for each I.D. card lost during the course of residency and/or not returned and signed in at the front desk upon check-out.
  4. Bedding and linen will be provided in the guestrooms to each member of the Licensee group as stated in the contract. The Licensee shall be liable for any missing or damaged items. The amount of the charge* is determined by the missing or damaged item.
  5. Conference guests must sign visitors in at the security desk. All visitors must leave one valid picture ID or two valid non-picture IDs with the guard. Visitors must be accompanied by their host at all times. Some residence halls do not allow visitors.
  6. Conference guests must make arrangements, including payment, for overnight visitors in advance with Conference Services through the Licensee. Your program organizer will inform the Front Desk of these arrangements. Visitors will not be permitted to stay overnight without prior approval. Some residence halls do not allow overnight visitors.
  7. The University unconditionally reserves the right to inspect or reassign a guests’ room; and/or take any steps necessary or advisable in the interests of the safety or maintenance of, or conduct by occupants of, its residence hall system.

Getting from Conference Lodging to Conference Site

The following map displays approximate travel time from your lodging (10 Buick Street) to the main conference site (675 Commonwealth Ave). It takes 15 minutes by walking according to the estimate by Google. The breakfast dining hall (700 Commonwealth Ave) for the first 2 days is located right across the conference site. A limited number of rooms (about 5-6 rooms) are reserved under “AATK” at a special rate for conference attendees. June can be a high demand month for Hotel Commonwealth and a discounted rate of $259 per room per night is available during June 18 (Wednesday) – June 21 (Saturday). All rates are subject to a 14.45% room tax. All guest room rates include complimentary wireless internet access. The rooms would be on hold up to 30 days prior to arrival. Each guest will call in their individual reservation as soon as possible but no later than Monday, May 19, 2014, at which time any remaining rooms that have not been reserved or guaranteed will be released for general sale.
