Assistant Professor of Korean, position number 83364, University of  Hawaii at Manoa, College of Languages, Linguistics and Literature, Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, tenure track, full-time, 9-month appointment to begin August 2, 2010, renewable subject to performance in teaching, research, and service.

Duties:  Teach 15 credit hours of Korean language and linguistics courses per year at the undergraduate and graduate levels; coordinate the undergraduate program, advise undergraduate and graduate students; and other departmental and university services.

Minimum qualifications:  Ph.D. in Korean language or linguistics or related field, research publications in Korean language, language pedagogy, or linguistics; two years of full-time experience in teaching Korean at the college-level; near native level of fluency in both Korean and English.

Desired qualifications:  experience in teaching Korean linguistics or pedagogy undergraduate coordination; textbook development in Korean language and culture; familiarity with ACTFL or ILR Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) scales; familiarity with instructional technology.
