Assistant Professor of Korean, position number 82940, University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Languages, Linguistics, and Literature, Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, tenure-track, full-time, 9-month appointment to begin August 1, 2010, or at a later date, renewable subject to performance in teaching, research, and service.
Duties: Teach Korean language and linguistics courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, advise undergraduate and graduate students, conduct research in Korean language, and perform other departmental and university service.
Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Korean language or linguistics or a related field, research publications in Korean language, language pedagogy, or linguistics; two years of full-time experience in teaching Korean at the college-level, native or near native level of fluency in both Korean and English.
Desirable qualifications: Experience in teaching Korean linguistics or pedagogy, undergraduate program coordination, textbook development in Korean language, familiarity with ACTFL or ILR Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) scales, familiarity with instructional technology.
