The Department of Asian Languages and Literatures in the College of
Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota seeks a pool of applicants
to teach language courses in Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Positions
will be full-time for the fall semester 2012 (08/27/12 - 01/09/13)
and/or spring semester 2013 (01/10/13 - 05/26/13). If filled, these
positions are for day, evening, or a combination of day/evening
courses, taught on a semester basis. Full-time appointments are
eligible for benefits. Salary range is competitive based upon
qualifications. Positions may be annually renewable depending on
departmental need, funding and performance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach assigned language classes/sections;
keep office hours; prepare course materials; engage in curriculum
development; prepare and grade exams; and participate in program
governance as appropriate.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: M.A. or foreign equivalent, in Chinese,
Japanese or Korean, or related area. Native or near-native fluency in
Chinese, Japanese or Korean. Strong English language communication
skills, and university-level teaching experience in Chinese, Japanese
or Korean language. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Chinese,
Japanese or Korean, or related area, with two or more years of
university-level teaching experience in target language. Candidates
with a Masters degree will be appointed as Teaching Specialists; those
with a Ph.D. will be appointed as Lecturers.
