By AIR
If you're flying in
or out of Chicago,
you'll likely use either Midway or O'Hare Airport. If you can, opt for
Midway—it's closer to the campus (Hyde
Park) and much less crowded. Midway
is on the southwest side of Chicago, about 30
minutes from Hyde Park. O'Hare, located in a
northwest suburb of Chicago,
is at least 45 minutes from campus by car if there is no traffic at all.
Because the airport is so large, leave extra time to get around.
The following are
the available transportation means from the airport. We highly recommend taking
either a taxi or an airport shuttle (Omega) to the campus, since bus and train
public transportation may be somewhat inconvenient for reaching the University.
Taxi
The two main cab companies in Chicago are Checker Cab and Yellow Cab. You can hire one just by calling
T-A-X-I-C-A-B (Checker
Cab), or
312-829-4222 (Yellow Cab). Fares and travel time
below are estimates under normal traffic condition. Service
charge is not included in the prices below.
Prices: $45
from/to O¡¯Hare (for about 1 hour)
$25 from /to Midway (for about 30
minutes)
$15-18 from /to downtown Chicago (for about 15-20
minutes)
Omega Airport Shuttle
This
shuttle service provides transportation to and from O'Hare and Midway. The
shuttle runs every hour. Before you leave, please check the schedule at www.omegashuttle.com.
For pick-up locations and schedule information for your returning trip, call
(773-483-6688) in advance. Departing from either airport, please get off at
Quadrangle Club, one of their designated stops. (Door-to-door service is more
expensive.) Please walk (for 1 minute) along the University Avenue
to north. Please make a left turn when you see the dormitory building. You will
find the entrance in the courtyard.
Prices:
$30 from/to O'Hare (at least 1 hour)
$17 from/to Midway (about 45
minutes)
